Associated clearly with strength and power, sanguineous reds have the instant ability to turn heads, attracting attention and conveying pure passion to those around. Adopting a sense of confidence, it is time to replace your little black dress or winter coat with a standout scarlet version. After all, this captivating colour is one that never fails to fall out of fashion.

This year on the catwalks, Valentino and Dolce & Gabbana have prevailed with the iconic lady in red image, parading sophisticated and elegant adaptations in striking retro with 60s bold print shoes and ethereal, fairytale gowns, with subtle embellishments. Phase Eight adopted a similar conception via full-length red decadent glamour gowns, as did Next, exuding romance and beautiful detailing.

For a store that enables you to go from desk to dinner and beyond, juxtaposed with feminine silhouettes in an array of varying reds; look no further then Hobbs who always inject their styles with the most coveted trends.

A soirée of designers chose to drench their creations in head-to-toe scarlets. Chunky knits in varying blood tones were paraded at Sacai and Prabal Gurung, the use of lust-worthy leathers and strong silhouettes in ravishing rouges radiated the collections at Sportmax and Rag & Bone, whilst satins and silks signalled all out sexiness at Versace and Tom Ford.

Over on the high street, Marks and Spencer have excelled with their selection of fabrications for outwear pieces, with ruby red coats made from the finest wools and fabulous oversized faux fur cover-ups.

As we all know, the key to successful and stylish winter dressing arrives in the form of layering, which not only keeps us extra cosy, it also injects a dimension of variation and versatility. When removing an item of clothing it then unveils other hidden garments underneath; a method best highlighted by designers Undercover and Tibi, who experimented with a concoction of reds amongst their collections. Take on this trend with a nod to these two designers and play with an assortment of reds, ranging from burgundy and crimson to maroon and wine. Note – if the thought of wearing all out red sends you into a fashion frenzy, opt to showcase the colour trend through accessories. Think bags, shoes, scarves, hats and jewellery and make your way down to Zara and East for a host of fabulous outfit additions.

Whilst on the subject of accessories, the ultimate standout and every woman’s guilty pleasure; the shoe, has alarmed itself as the season’s statement look in a lust-worthy lipstick red. Everyone from Prada and Kenzo to Karen Millen and Ted Baker are embracing the dominant, desirable colour trend!
