Owner and buyer for The Lifestyle Concept, Tracy Beesley, takes time out of her busy schedule to share with us her considerations when buying stock for The Lifestyle Concept.
Buying fashion for others is never going to be easy. After all, do you buy for what you like and your style or do you buy for what you think others will like?
The truth is, it’s a combination of the two. You would never buy what you don’t like but on the other hand you buy for your customers on the basis that you may not wear it but you know that customers will love it.
There are six basic styles of dressing for women –
– Classic – think elegant, understated, formal (Fiona Bruce)
– Gamine – fun, quirky, youthful, boyish (Dame Judy Dench)
– Romantic – glamourous, sexy luxurious (Holly Willoughby)
– Ingenue – delicate, neat, pretty, youthful (Kylie Minogue)
– Natural – easy, casual, outdoorsy (Julia Roberts)
– Dramatic – powerful, sleek, structured (Cher)
What I have tried to do therefore is encompass all those styles and according to House Of Colour expert, Sandra Atrill, I have pretty much got it right.
Endless Rose is romantic – a brand from Los Angeles with a quirky touch, encompassing pretty skirts and tops;
Daphnea – gamine brand with soft knits and feminity with a touch of romantic thrown in for good measure
Classic – well that has to be the Love Molly Cashmere wraps along with the statement jeans from Amazing Woman
Dramatic – you have a hint of that with Endless Rose but also with Louche a new London brand brought into the shop just recently that also has a classic edge to it.
