Women UK check out the new buzz in PDO Thread Lifting
Lunch time face lift does indeed sound too good to be true so we decided find out whats involved. With the help of River Aesthetics based in The New Forest, we investigated why Thread Lifts are becoming the must have procedure for every women over the age of 40.
A thread lift is a convenient, less invasive alternative to traditional face lifts, designed for people experiencing early signs of aging, such as minor facial sagging. This innovative face lift procedure can be performed in just one hour. During a thread lift, the practitioner inserts thin threads into the face through tiny incisions made in the targeted area. These threads attach to the skin tissue and are then pulled back to lift and smooth the face. Almost immediately, treated areas will be raised slightly, eliminating sagging and giving a rejuvenated appearance. Once the threads are knotted, they become hidden within the skin itself, and any scarring that results will be virtually invisible.
The great thing about a thread lift is that it offers quick recovery together with excellent results. Local anaesthetic is all that is required and there is no hospital stay required. Another good factor about the thread lift is that it is much more affordable than a regular face lift with prices from £600.00 and the results are long lasting for between 2-3 years. Seems like a bit of a no brainer, right?
The threads are made of PDO (polydioxanone) material, the same material that is used for surgical stitches. PDO continuously stimulates collagen synthesis under skin, which means the results improve over time.
The full effect can be realised after three months. When inserted into the skin, they act as a “scaffold” for the skin that helps to “hold” the skin against the effects of gravity. The threads are absorbed and therefore will be reabsorbed in 4-6 months, leaving nothing behind but the skin structure created which continues to hold for another 18-24 months.
River Aesthetics is run by two GP’s, Dr Charlotte Woodward and Dr Victoria Manning. Before any treatment, a full medical history is taken and a consultation and explanation on the PDO Thread Lift given. All consent forms signed, lots of photographs of my face taken and we were ready to begin.
After receiving local anaesthetic to two areas at either side of the face by the ears, the threads are inserted, this is generally a painless exercise. The procedure takes just shy of an hour. There should be no side effects, at worst a little pressure in the face.
The full effects of a thread lift take up to three months to realise. This is a fast and simple procedure that is relatively pain free and by spending just an hour with the team at River Aesthetics, you can have results that will last for a couple of years.
