There is a reason why Gravy Boesti has a 5 out of 5 star rating on Trip Advisor. Set back in Edward Street, below the Crown Courts, Gravy Boesti would look to the naked eye like any other of the stone mid terraced houses that line the street. However don’t be fooled!
Owned by three friends, Ian, Chris and Scott, the dining experience at Gravy Boesti is unique to anywhere else in the county. In the contemporary yet cosy dining room, you will find an open plan kitchen. It is here that Ian and Scott perform their magic with food. Turning out the most delicious and delightful meals, in front of your very eyes! Chris on the other hand, is ‘front of house’. A larger than life character who makes everyone instantly feel welcome and at ease.
The menu is stunning with a range of vegetarian, fish and meat dishes, all prepared using the best locally sourced produce wherever possible. If we had to put a ‘style’ on the food, we would say traditional with a Mediterranean twist.
Women UK Cornwall were lucky enough to be invited along to enjoy an evening at Gravy Boesti and on a wet and windy January night where we enjoyed a medley of mouthwatering dishes. For starters, we were treated to seared scallops with apple, fennel, tarragon and celeriac. Our main courses were roasted guinea fowl with confit leg bon bon, savoy cabbage, bacon and carrots served with duck fat chips and pan roasted cod with ratatouille, olives, mussels and fresh herbs.
By this time we were rather full however we’d heard that the desserts were to die for so rather than be good, we decided that they would be worth the extra calories! And they were! We were treated to the most delicious lemon tart served with raspberry sorbet, crème fraiche gel, raspberry jelly, meringue and a custard panacotta with poached rhubarb, apple puree and crumble. Absolutely delicious.
We had a lovely evening and will definitely be returning. In the words of the three owners, Ross, Chris and Ian: ‘So sit back, relax, unwind and enjoy as life is all Gravy Baby’.
